Thirteen Blue Springs High School students and one para-professional had their heads shaved as part of Friday’s eighth-annual Brave-A-Shave fundraiser for St. Baldrick's Foundation, which supports childhood cancer research. Before the haircutting, senior Tre Ellebracht shared the story of his cancer scare over the spring and summer, and assistant principal Heather Knudsen and athletic director/football coach Kelly Donohoe then shared their past and current cancer stories via video. Barbers from Precision Line and a stylist from Bolero Salon & Spa cut participants’ hair. Students raised $2,744 ahead of the event and along with staff had raised more than $38,500 for St. Baldrick's. [Mike Genet/The Examiner]
