Many area residents have options for recycling their natural Christmas trees.
The Mid-America Regional Council suggests first calling your trash hauler.
Blue Springs has a drop-off location at Pink Hill Park, 2715 N.W. Park Road.
Buckner’s yard-waste site (for Buckner residents only) is at 2500 O’Donnell Road.
Sugar Creek residents are directed to the Courtney Ridge Landfill at 1701 N. Missouri 291.
MARC also suggests calling Compost Connection Inc. at 816-761-8300 or Lawn-Corps Curbside Recycling at 816-761-3046.
Also, Mid-Continent Public Library branches as well as Westlake Ace Hardware and Two Men and a Truck are among the places taking old Christmas tree lights through Jan. 11. The lights are turned over to Southeast Enterprises, a sheltered workshop in Kansas City for adults with developmental disabilities. The lights are refurbished and put back into use. It keeps them out of the landfill.
Another handy resource for help in recycling Christmas trees or any number of other items is recyclespot.org. Call 816-474-8326.
