Two seniors at William Chrisman High School have been honored by the Rotary Club of Independence as students of the month.
• Megan Bruch is a McCoy Award winner, is in the National Honor Society, has attended the Summit Technology Academy and has made the biomed honor roll. She has had a grade-point average of 4.0-plus in all four years of high school, and she’s in the top 3 percent of her class.
She’s been first team all-conference in swimming for two years and has run cross-country, has been on the student council from 2016 through 2019, has been the spirit chair in 2018 and 2019 and has been a college ambassador in 2017 and 2018. She finishes the A-plus program in March. She’s on the Tsunami Swim Team and has been a lifeguard at Oceans of Fun and Adventure Oasis.
She plans to attend Missouri State University to study nursing and eventually earn a master’s degree in nursing and become a certified nurse midwife.
She is the daughter of Robert and Rebecca Bruch.
• Braxton Saye is a McCoy Award winner. He’s played four seasons of soccer and made first team all-district and honorable mention all-conference. He’s in the DECA program. He also plays club soccer and works three jobs – at Backyard Burgers, Hy-Vee and Green Lantern Car Wash.
He plans to attend Pittsburg State University to study construction management.
He is the son of Valeria Saye.
