Two seniors from Fort Osage High School have been honored by the Rotary Club of Independence as students of the month.

• Megan Lyon has been named first-team all-conference twice and team MVP in soccer, and she has been named to the all-district women’s choir and National ACDA Choir and has earned individual district and state choir honors.

She has also lettered in football, wrestling and Scholar Bowl, and she performed a lead role in the school musical. Lyon has participated in Student Council, National Honor Society and her church’s worship band.

She plans to attend Rockhurst University, studying education and Spanish, and wants to be a Spanish teacher and hopefully coach soccer and give vocal lessons.

She is the daughter of David and Mona Lyon

• Andrew Colyer is a scholar-athlete and four-year letterwinner, earning letters in cross country, track and choir. He has earned individual district and state choir honors, has received the Pat James Spirit Award and is an Eagle Scout.

He has also participated in Touch of Class, the school musical, the National Honor Society and the Youth Advisory Council.

He plans to join the workforce for a year and then go to college at a school to be determined.

He is the son of David and Karen Colyer.
