Grain Valley Police caught a burglary in progress and nabbed the suspect after a short chase Friday morning.

Police were called about 4:30 a.m. to the 1200 block of Northwest Pamela Boulevard, in the small industrial park just north of Interstate 70, for a burglary in progress. When officers arrived they tried to catch the suspect, who nearly struck officers while fleeing in a car, police said. Officers then caught the suspect after a brief chase. One Jackson County Sheriff's Office deputy was involved in a motor vehicle accident during the incident, but neither the suspect nor any officers were injured, police said.

Oak Grove, Blue Springs and Independence police and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office either assisted in the chase or were available as backup if the chase continued.

The remains under investigation.
