Lincoln service at Eastgate Christian

Eastgate Christian Church, 4010 S. River Boulevard, Independence, will host a special worship service at 10:25 a.m., Sunday in honor of the 210th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth. The service will feature Lincoln-period hymns and music, and Rev. Joshua Patty will offer a sermon titled “Can These Bones Speak? The 12 Burials of Abraham Lincoln,” in which he reflects on why it took almost 40 years before the president's body could rest in peace and considers lessons for how we honor the dead. ‘Have Faith and Follow’ at Stone Church

The theme for Sunday’s service at Stone Church, 1012 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, is “Have Faith and Follow.” Phil Caswell will be the presider and Ken McClain the speaker. Music will be provided by Clare Vlahos and the vocal quartet of Sheryl McClaran, Wilma Handlen, Charles Belcher and Terry Snapp. Closed caption will be provided for the hearing impaired.
