Lee's Summit Road will be closed at 23rd Street in Independence next weekend, from 11 p.m. April 5 to 6 a.m. April 6, for part of an ongoing water line project. The closure could happen another night if needed.

Independence also has indefinitely closed the Kentucky Road bridge over Rock Creek, between North Ditzler Avenue and East First Street and the railroad tracks in the Mount Washington neighborhood. The bridge was closed March 15 after a pothole crew found the pavement had completely disintegrated in one spot.

The bridge is on the Independence-Kansas City border, though Independence has plowed and overlayed the pavement on the bridge and nearby. The city is working with Kansas City on repairing the bridge, as it possibly falls in Kansas City's jurisdiction.
