Metropolitan Community College's annual All for the Children event, with a large Easter egg hunt, is from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Blue River campus, 20301 E. Missouri 78 in Independence.

It’s free and open to the public. No pets, glass or alcohol.

Activities include:

• A 5K run at 8:30 a.m. Registration closes at 8 a.m. Participants can walk or jog.

• A kids fun run at 9:30 a.m.

• An obstacle course, balloon artists, face painting, spray-on tattoos, arts and crafts, costumed characters, and information and entertainment booths.

• Truman Medical Centers' Dental Clinic will provide free dental screenings.

• MCC's Public Safety Institute will offer free self-defense classes for kids.

• Mr. Stinky Feet, aka Jim Cosgrove, performs at 11 a.m.

The Easter egg hunt, with more than 10,000 eggs, starts about 11:45 a.m.. There’s one area for children 3 and younger and another for 4 and older.
