Two seniors at Van Horn High School have been honored by the Rotary Club of Independence as students of the month.

• Roberto Arcia is a cross country, wrestling and track and field athlete who is involved in student council, National Honors Society and the multicultural club. After graduation, he plans on attending Mizzou as a KC Scholar. Currently, he volunteers at Harvesters and attends the Music Arts Institute.

He is the son of Roberto P. Arcia and Tamara Diaz.

• Selena Gonzalez is a member of the Van Horn orchestra and Van Horn Theatre Arts program. She is a Public Service Academy representative and a Girl Scout for over 10 years. She is also a student at the Music/Arts Institute. She plans on attending the University of Central Missouri to study social work, and received a Red and Black scholarship.

She works as a barista at Two Brothers Bistro and is the daughter of Rogelio and Melinda Gonzalez.
