The Jackson County Prosecutor's Office and Jackson County COMBAT will host a community listening session from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at Independence's Eastside Baptist Church, 19901 Missouri 78.
The prosecutor's office bills the sessions as an effort to open a new discussion with the community and boost understanding of the community's public safety goals. A reception will follow.
The session at Eastside Baptist is the second a series of community listening session. The third session is 6:30-8 p.m. June 11 at Ruskin High School, 7000 E. 111th St., Kansas City. COMBAT is the the county's anti-drug and violence program backed a 1/4-cent sales tax.
