A man attempted to rob an Independence credit union at gunpoint but left without taking any money Friday afternoon, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said.
The holdup happened about 3:30 p.m. Friday, as the suspect entered the City Credit Union at 2550 Missouri 291, displayed a weapon and made a verbal demand of cash before fleeing, according to the FBI.
The suspect, a black man about 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds, sporting dreadlocks and wearing a hooded pink sweatshirt and white pants, fled northbound on Missouri 291, the FBI said.
The FBI also is investigating a bank robbery that happened at 4:18 p.m. at the Central Bank of the Midwest, 9740 Wornall Road, Kansas City. That suspect, wearing a green collared shirt, black tennis shoes and a ski mask, fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
