A disturbance between patrons at an Independence McDonald's led to a shooting outside the building that left one man seriously injured late Tuesday afternoon.
The shooting happened about 4 p.m. at the McDonald's at Noland Road and Fair Street, just south of 23rd Street. Police said it did not involve any employees or any robbery.
Police said the shooting victim was seriously injured and they quickly had two suspects in custody and continue to investigate. One restaurant employee was taken from the scene in an ambulance with a reported panic attack.
Police spokesperson John Syme said that given the proximity to the station and that the intersection is near four patrol districts, officers quickly descended on the area and one of them tried to help stem the victim's bleeding before paramedics arrived. Many people passing by the scene could clearly see blood and discarded clothes and shoes on the curb just outside the south doors, where the shooting happened.
