Police have identified both men who died in traffic collisions Sunday.

The first incident happened about 2:45 a.m., Sunday at the intersection of Emery and College streets, a block south of U.S. 24. and east of Noland Road.

According to police, 57-year-old Ricky Byrom of Lexington was riding a bicycle south on Emery failed to heed the stop sign and rode into the patch of a 2004 Jeep Cherokee driving west on College. Emery Street ends at College at that intersection.

Byrom, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The second fatal collision happened about 4 p.m. Sunday, on Main Street just north of 23rd Street. A motorcyclist, 71-year-old Gary Barr of Independence, was heading south on Main tried to make a left turn and drove into the path of a northbound Chevrolet Tahoe. Barr, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the hospital, and the Tahoe driver was not injured.
