Two seniors at Truman High School have been honored by the Rotary Club of Independence as students of the month.

• Kaylie Westhefer is a member of the National French Honor Society and the National Honor Society. She has also been awarded the McCoy Award for academic excellence.

While in high school, Kaylie has participated in the Truman High School student council, TruCrew spirit club, French Club, Digital Marketing Club, and the Starsteppers dance team.

She was elected vice president of her senior class. Kaylie has also participated in Young Life and has been a competitive dancer.

She has held jobs at Mudhole BBQ in Liberty and at Relay for Life.

Her goal is to attend college to study business and marketing and to be licensed as a Realtor.

Kaylie is the daughter of Michael and Julie Westhefer.

• Carter Brown has participated in multiple sports during high school, receiving varsity letters in football, basketball, baseball and track. He has also been on the honor roll at Truman High School.

Carter is an active member of St. Paul’s Church.

His plan is to attend the University of Iowa to study either radiology or physical therapy. He hopes to have a career in the medical field that allows him to help others.

Carter is the son of Cory and Hillary Brown.
