Independence Police hope a couple clues can help them identify the human remains found late Saturday night at the former Rockwood Golf Course.

Officers were called at about 11 p.m. Saturday to the 2400 block of South Maywood Avenue, in the undeveloped portion of the former golf course, after a person discovered human remains in a wooded area near a creek. Police say they have not determined an apparent cause of death, an approximate time how long the human remains had been at that location, or whether the person was male or female.

Police said the dead person was wearing a TCC-EX diabetic foot wound car boot on the right foot and a black shoe with a lift attachment on the left foot when found. The person had also been wearing a Royals baseball cap and Costco employee polo shirt from an out-of-state store. Investigators would like to speak with people who know of any missing person wearing the device and footwear, as well as the clothes.

Police are also trying to locate the pictured subject, Bobby J. Alexander III, a 28-year-old homeless man from Independence, who detectives believe may have important information about this case.

The city of Independence owns the former golf course land where the body was found, including the portion to the south that has a solar farm.

Anyone with information about the possible identity of this dead person or where police can find Bobby Alexander should call the Tips Hotline at (816) 474-8477, IPD Tips at (816) 325-7777 or email leads@indepmo.org.
