The Jackson County Environmental Health Division inspects sites where food is served outside independence and Kansas City. Recent inspection results in Blue Springs include:

Rancho Grande Cantina, 501 N.W. Jefferson St., inspected Sept. 18.

• The soda nozzles on the soda machine on the waitress line had an accumulation of dried liquid.

• There was a bottle of liquor in the bar area that had dust and other unknown particles floating in the bottom. Corrected; manager discarded the bottle.

Casey’s General Store, 2424 S.W. Missouri 7, inspected Sept. 19.

• The in-use cloths were stored in a sanitizer that had a weak concentration and needed to be replaced. Corrected on site.

• The vents at the back of the store had a heavy accumulation of dust.

• The floor of the walk-in freezer had an accumulation of debris.

• The floors of the kitchen had an accumulation of debris.

• The microwave that is designated to be used by customers had an excessive accumulation of food throughout the interior. Corrected on site.

• The back storage room has an ice machine that is no longer in use and takes up unnecessary space.

Sonic Drive-In, 801 N.W. Woods Chapel Road, inspected Sept. 23.

• The underside of the racks in the walk-in cooler had an accumulation of buildup.

• The sliding racks in the walk-in cooler had an accumulation of buildup in the crevices.

• The vents directly above the fryers had an accumulation of grease buildup.

• The side walls of the fryer had an accumulation of grease buildup.

Centerline Beach Volleyball, 1910 S.E. US 40, inspected Sept. 23.

•. A can was dented along the top seam. Corrected: damaged can discarded.

Rolling in the Dough, 1408 S.W. Trail Ridge Drive, inspected Sept. 23. No violations recorded.

Casa Mexico, 1414 N.W. Missouri 7, inspected Sept. 24.

• Containers of raw meat stored in the bottom of the make table cooler with no discard dates. Corrected on site.

• A bowl was being used as a scoop for the sugar; the bowl did not have a handle and was touching food.

• A bucket of shrimp that was in the process of thawing was stored on the floor. Corrected on site.

• Chick was being stored on top of beef in the walk-in cooler. Corrected on site.

Sinclair’s Restaurant, 1402 N.W. Missouri 7, inspected Sept. 24.

• Employees’ earrings were laying on top of the prep area. Corrected on site.

• The reach-in freezer and the reach-in cooler had an accumulation of dried food debris on the bottom.

El Ranchero Mexican Restaurant, 1867 S.W. Missouri 7, inspected Oct. 1.

• Not able to provide all employees’ food handler permits.

• No paper towels at hand sink.

• Can opener had black buildup.

• Ice machine had slimy residue.

• Scoops without handles were found in sugar and spices. Corrected on site.

• Ready to eat foods in walk-in cooler not dated. Corrected on site.

• Three bottles of orange juice were past expiration dates and were discarded.

• Gasket on walk-in cooler needs to be replaced.

Dirty Harry’s Pub, 3100 S.W. Missouri 7, inspected Sept. 26.

• Soiled knife stored on the magnetic strip. Corrected on site.

Real Jalisco Fine Mexican Cuisine, 1711 S.W. Missouri 7, inspected Sept. 26.

• A spoon that was hanging up had food residue on it. Corrected on site.

• The nozzle on the soda machine had an accumulation of residue buildup. Corrected.

• A large can of jalapenos had a dent along the bottom seam. Corrected on site.

• Both ice scoops were stored with the handles in the ice. Corrected on site.

Waffle House, 1500 N.W. Woods Chapel Road, inspected Sept. 27.

• The ice machine had a buildup of residue on the inside and on the ice shield. Corrected on site.

• The reach-in coolers had an accumulation of food residue on the bottom.

• The concentration of sanitizer in the bucket was far too strong and needed diluting. Corrected on site.

• The back room and walk-in cooler had an accumulation of debris on the floor.

• The compartment housing the trash can had an excessive accumulation of debris and food residue.

China Kitchen, 1108 N.W. Woods Chapel Road, inspected Sept. 27.

• The inside handles of some pans had a heavy accumulation of food debris. (Not a food-contact surface.)

• There was a box of single-service cups stored on the floor. Corrected on site.

• There were numerous locations where employee food was stored with food that is intended for customers.

•There were multiple cans that had severe dents on the bottom and top seams. Corrected on site.

• The walk-in cooler had food debris and trash on the ground. Corrected on site.

Las Playas, 1016 N.W. Woods Chapel Road, inspected Sept. 27.

• Ceiling tiles and air vents have a heavy accumulation of dust and grease.

• The hood vents had a very heavy accumulation of grease which was dripping onto food contact surfaces. Corrected on site.

• The scoop used for tortilla chips had a heavy accumulation of grease buildup. Corrected on site.

• The mechanical dishwasher was not sufficiently producing chemical sanitizer solution. Corrected on site.

• The wire reacks in the reach-in cooler had an accumulation of debris. The wire racks in the reach in cooler were also corroded and unable to be properly cleaned.

• Frozen beef was observed to be thawing in a bucket of still water. The manager moved the bucket to the sink and began running water on it. Corrected on site.

• Handwashing sink in the kitchen area has accumulation of dirt/food debris.

• Multiple cans were left stored in the reach-in cooler within the original containers and left opened.

• The handwashing sink sealing was in disrepair.
