Two seniors at Van Horn High School have been selected as students of the month.
• Hannah Grace Lockard-Collins is the president of the senior class. She is also the vice president of the National Honor Society. She has received a KC Scholarship and has been awarded the McCoy Award for Academic Excellence. She also participates in the Chick-fil-A leader academy at her school.
Hanna attends Grace Baptist Church in Lee’s Summit and participates with her church youth group and mission trips.
Hannah plans to attend college to major in education and hopes to become a school administrator.
Hannah is the daughter of Jill Collins.
• Dominic J. Torres has been awarded the McCoy Award for Academic Excellence and has received a KC Scholarship. He is the Student Body Executive President, the President of the Van Horn DECA club, and the Parliamentarian of the Van Horn National Honor Society. Dominic is also a member of the multicultural club at his school.
Dominic is also a Life Scout, serves on the Youth Advisory Council with Truman Heartland Community Foundation, and is interning with the Kansas City Mavericks. In addition, Dominic is a certified barista at a local Starbucks.
Dominic has been accepted to UMKC. and plans to major in business and marketing. His goal is to start his own marketing agency to help local start-ups and nonprofits.
Dominic is the son of Christopher Torres and Cierra Begulia.
