The Jackson County Environmental Health Division inspects sites where food is served outside Independence and Kansas City. Recent inspection results in Blue Springs include:

Wingstop, 481 N.E. Coronado Drive, inspected Nov. 21.

• Failure to provide valid food handler cards for multiple employees. (repeat)

• There was a bag of carrots in the walk-in cooler on the floor and boxes of chicken stored on the floor in the walk-in freezer. Corrected.

• The ice scoop holder had an accumulation of black particles floating in the ice that had melted in the ice scoop holder. Corrected.

• The knife magnet holder had an accumulation of dry food debris stuck to it.

St. Mary’s Medical Center, 201 West R.D. Mize Road, inspected Nov. 22.

• There is a leak under the three-compartment sink and under the dishwasher. Management stated that they had put in a work order for repairs.

Bob Evans Farms, 1117 N. Missouri 7, inspected Nov. 22.

• Raw eggs were stored above ready-to-eat foods in the reach-in cooler on the cook line.

• Numerous cans had dents along the top, side and/or bottom seams. The cans were discarded.

• The microwave had an excessive accumulation of food debris. Corrected on site.

• The underside of the wire racks in the walk-in cooler had an accumulation of debris and residue. Repeat violation. Corrected on site.

• The inside of the reach-in cooler had an accumulation of debris and residue on the bottom shelf.

• An in-use wiping cloth was stored on the counter. Corrected on site.

Chick-Fil-A Blue Springs, 951 N.E. Coronado Drive, inspected Nov. 22.

• There were two boxes of chicken stored on the floor next to the breading station. Corrected on site.

Mr. Hibachi, 726 N. Missouri 7, inspected Nov. 22.

• The handles of the scoops that were being used for the flour were dirty with food debris. Repeat. Corrected on site.

• There was a package of tuna thawing on the counter. Repeat.

• There were several containers of raw meats and containers of ready-to-eat foods in the walk-in cooler with no date marking. Corrected on site.

Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar, 1100 N. Missouri 7, inspected Nov. 22.

• The underside of the wire racks had an accumulation of debris and residue.

• There was no hand washing signage in the men’s restroom to remind employees to wash their hands.

• The dishwasher had a significant leak on the underside.

• The wash station sink had a leak.

Legend of Asia, 1853 S.W. Missouri 7, inspected Nov. 22.

• Numerous cans had severe dents on the top, bottom, and/or side seams. The dented cans were discarded and the kitchen staff was educated on what to look for specifically when it comes to receiving canned goods. Corrected on Site.

• Some handwashing sinks did not have signs to remind employees to wash their hands.

• Multiple instances where the handles for in-use utensils were stored in food items. Corrected on site.

• Multiple boxes of frozen food were stored on the floor in the walk-in freezer. Corrected on site.
