Jackson County will offer extended weekend hours for property tax payments at the Historic Truman Courthouse, 112 W. Lexington Ave., on the Independence Square.

The courthouse will be open 8 a.m. to noon Saturday and Dec. 21 and Dec. 28 in addition to normal weekday hours, so taxpayers can make in-person tax payments, obtain a copy of their bill, make changes to their account or ask questions of the assessment and collection departments.

Weekday hours are also available at the Downtown Courthouse, 415 E. 12th St., Kansas City. Taxpayers can also mail their payment to the address on their bill, use the free app myJacksonCounty (download or go to payments.jacksongov.org) or pay online at payments.jacksongov.org.

Payments must be received or postmarked by Dec. 31 to avoid penalty. Online payments must be submitted by 11 p.m. that day.
