The Independence City Council, Preceptor Theta Eta chapter, of Beta Sigma Phi elected Officers in 2019 year, including:

* Joyce Shelton-Hazelrigg, president.

• Danielle Dupree-Crawford, vice president.

• Toni Allen, recording secretary.

• Linda Rasperger, corresponding secretary.

• Jane Fitzgerald, treasurer.

Joyce Shelton-Hazelrigg, Danielle Dupree-Crawford, Toni Allen and Julie Drummond were elected to serve as representatives to the Independence City Council.

A Preferential Tea for the Beta Sigma Phi City Council was held in October at the First United Methodist Church in Blue Springs. At that event, Jean Jett, Amber Hanna, and April Tomlinson were introduced as sisters rejoining.

In October, the sorority met at Fun House Pizza and enjoyed a program about witches and Halloween presented by Julie Drummond and Linda Rasperger. Sharon Engelman was voted as the chapter’s Valentine Queen.

In November, the Preceptor Theta Eta chapter met with the Xi Xi Sigma chapter for a Thanksgiving dinner at the home of Danielle Dupree-Crawford. This event was enjoyed by all.

The Beta Sigma Phi Independence City Council holiday event was held on Dec, 7 at the First United Methodist Church in Independence with Joyce Shelton-Hazelrigg as Chairman. Members enjoyed a wonderful lunch and gift exchange.

The Preceptor Theta Eta chapter Christmas dinner and gift exchange was held on December 11 at the beautifully decorated Hawthorn House.

Preceptor Theta Eta chapter service projects for this year are Tennis Shoes for Kids, Missouri Girls’ Town and Toys for Salvation Army.
