A police chase Monday morning that started in Kansas City ended on U.S. 24 at the Independence-Sugar Creek border with a kidnapping suspect in custody.
The chase started about 10:45 a.m. Monday at the 9000 block of Belmont Avenue, near the Grandview Triangle, went on city streets and Interstate 435, with speeds above 80 miles per hour at times, according to Kansas City Police and KSHB-TV News. The chase ended on westbound U.S. 24 just west of Sterling Avenue, as the suspect's vehicle had been slowed by flat by tires.
Independence and Sugar Creek police and the Jackson County sheriff's department assisted with the chase – more than 12 vehicles converging at the end.
