Learn how to use quality chocolate to enhance your food and your health. A nutritional coach from Natural Grocers will share with you some of the health benefits of chocolate. If you have an old photo, but don’t know when it was taken, this class may help. You will learn techniques which will help determine the time period in which it was taken. Bring in one or two photographs you would like to date. This is a beginner-level class. You will need to register by visiting mymcpl.org and searching the “events.”
3 Urban legends and mysteries: 6 p.m. Feb. 10 at the North Independence Branch of the Mid-Continent Public Library, 317 U.S. 24, Independence, 816-252-0950. Join paranormal researcher Becky Ray as she shares supernatural, macabre, and humorous urban myths and legends from Missouri and Kansas and explores their possible origins and validity. 4 2020 digital photography competition: Burr Oak Woods Conservation Nature Center is sponsoring its 2020 photography contest. Make a visit to Burr Oak Woods, 1401 N.W. 5 First Presbyterian annual chocolate festival: 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 8, 417 W. Lexington Ave., Independence. Enjoy a taster’s plate of homemade treats, a trip to the chocolate fountain, and beverages, for which donations will be accepted.
