The Rotary Club of Independence has selected two seniors at Truman High School as Students of the Month:

• Brock Bristow has been active in multiple clubs and organizations during his years at Truman. He has participated in the Spanish Club and has become a member of the Spanish National Honor Society. Brock has also participated in several plays and musicals and has joined the International Thespian Society. He has also been a member of the student council, Key Club, DECA (a business competition), and the Tru Crew (a school spirit club). In addition, Brock has played baseball while at Truman. Brock has also participated in the Relay for Life, an activity which raises money for cancer research.

Brock has also kept busy working for the Blue Valley Activity Center where he served as an umpire, a referee, and sold concessions. He has also worked for the school district, serving as a painter during his summer vacation.

Brock hopes to become an actor and/or a comedian. He has just started working on his comedian skills, but is ready and available to provide comedy entertainment at events. Just email him at tbe.bbb@gmail.com.

Brock is the son of Kevin and Amy Bristow.

• Rian Caswell has also been active during her time at Truman. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society and has been elected to participate in the student council where she is the vice president of community concerns. Rian’s job with the student council required her to keep the student council informed as to community service opportunities available.

Rian has played tennis and participated in swimming at Truman. She has also participated in the Spanish Club, the Tru Crew (a school spirit club), the band, and has worked on the school yearbook. She has volunteered with the Relay for Life as well.

Outside of school, Rian has worked as a lifeguard at the Henley Aquatics Center and participates in a nondenominational youth group, Younglife Independence.

After graduation, Rian plans to attend Northwest Missouri State University to major in digital media: new media after which she hopes to work in the field of social media management.

Rian is the daughter of Michele and Brent Caswell.
