The Jackson County Health Department reported Wednesday the second COVID-19 patient death in Eastern Jackson County. The patient was a woman in her 80s, though the department did not give her hometown, the same as with the earliest coronavirus patients.

The first death, also a woman in her 80s, was reported on March 20. The department did not say when the second woman died, but its online data tracker listed the second death on March 28.

Eastern Jackson County reached 71 total cases Tuesday, two of whom have recovered. The 50-59 age range accounted for the most cases with 17, while the 40-49 age range has 15 cases.

Kansas City’s Health Department reported 128 cases in the city, including 27 in the 40-49 age range and 25 in the 30-39 range.
