The Abundant Life Church,at 414 S.W. Persels Road in Lee’s Summit and at 1241 S.W. Missouri 7 in Blue Springs, is providing needed services during the COVID-19 emergency.

The church has provided a food pantry serving Eastern Jackson County for the past 12 years. During the current emergency, Abundant Life has added a drive-thru grocery service at the pantry, as well as home delivery of groceries to persons in need. The drive-thru pantry, at 1300 S.W. Jefferson St. in Lee’s Summit, provides food including non-perishables, meat, eggs, toilet paper, and bread. The home delivery of food provided by the church is offered to seniors and shut-ins. The drive-thru pantry is open from 2 to 6 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and on Sundays (with the exception of Easter Sunday) from 1 to 3 p.m. Since March 22, the church has provided over 400 families with needed groceries.

Church members are also volunteering at Price Chopper and Hy-Vee in Lee’s Summit, sacking groceries and returning and cleaning grocery carts. These volunteers free up the store employees to restock shelves and fulfill online orders for customers.

Teams of church members are also making personal protection masks for Truman Medical Center at Lakewood and for Saint Luke’s Hospital.

On April 17, the church is sponsoring a site where people can drop-off personal protection equipment that can be used by health professionals or other persons in need of such equipment. The drop-ff will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 17 at the church’s 414 S.W. Persels Road location in Lee’s Summit.
