A local charity, Giving Hope and Help Inc., is preparing to present its sixh annual “Education is Your Passport” scholarships on July 30. College bound high school seniors as well as single parents who are seeking to attend college are eligible to apply.
Applications and guidelines for the scholarships can be completed at Givinghopeandhelp.org.
Three types of scholarships are available:
• Approximately 10 full-ride scholarships will be awarded to low-income students who plan to attend one of the Penn Valley or Maple Woods campuses of Metropolitan Community Colleges. Both graduating high school seniors and single parents will be eligible to apply for these scholarships.
• Approximately 10 scholarships will be awarded which will provide a laptop, a bed-in-a-bag set for the dorm and a backpack filled with school supplies and toiletries. Graduating high school seniors eligible to apply.
• Two scholarship winners will also be awarded $500 scholarships.
All recipients will receive a scholarship app to allow them to apply for additional scholarships while in college.
Giving Hope & Help is a 501(c)3 non profit that supports domestic violence survivors, and low income students. This scholarship program was created by Jessica McClellan, the founder of Giving Hope & Help. She was named, by The Examiner as a Women of Distinction honoree in 2018.
