An Independence man faces child pornography charges following his arrest at his home Tuesday.
Justin Swift, 35, was charged with producing child pornography and distributing it over the internet in a two-count complaint released by the Kansas City federal court Wednesday.
Swift was arrested at his home Tuesday, the same day he allegedly shared pornographic images of a 5-year-old child he had just taken.
According to court documents, Swift allegedly shared 11 images of child pornography on Tuesday with another person using the Kik message application on his phone.
He was arrested at his home after police officers executed a search warrant there. Swift, an unidentified woman, and four children – including the child victim seen in the photos – were at his home at the time of his arrest.
After seizing his phone, officers discovered several sexually explicit images of the child victim, including the same photos Swift had allegedly distributed with the Kik app.
Court documents allege Swift falsely claimed the child victim was his 5-year-old daughter, and said he took the photos either the night before or a few minutes before distributing them.
Swift remains in federal custody pending a detention hearing on Monday.
