Beginning next Tuesday, the Kansas City Public Library will initiate a Pop In/Pick Up service allowing patrons to put books or other items on hold and then to pick up those items without personal contact.

Initially the Pop In/Pick Up service will be available at five locations:

• Trails West, 11401 E. 23rd St., Independence.

• The Central Library, 14 W. Tenth St. in downtown Kansas City.

• The Plaza Library, 4801 Main St., Kansas City.

• Lucile H. Bluford Library, 3050 Prospect, Kansas City.

• Waldo Library, 201 E. 75th St., Kansas City/

Beginning in the first week of June, Pop In/Pick Up services will expand to include the other five library locations, including the Sugar Creek branch at 102 S. Sterling.

Pop In/Pick Up services will be available Tuesdays through Fridays, from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m.

Patrons can put items on hold by visiting the library website at kclibrary.org and then clicking on the heading “Books/Music/Movies/Digital.” Once an item is selected, the patron will be able to select which library branch to use for the Pop In/Pick Up service.

A patron arriving at a library branch will call the library and will wait outside. Library staff will notify the patron when to enter the building to pick up the item without having personal contact.

Due dates for items checked out before the library closed in March have been extended to June 15.
