The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office still seeks a person of interest as it investigates an early Sunday homicide in which an Independence man was fatally shot at a gas station.
According to sheriff investigators, 36-year-old Jason Juszczyk was shot shortly before 2 a.m. at the Phillips 66 gas station at 8301 E. Truman Road, next to Interstate 435 in unincorporated Jackson County. Juszczyk died after he was rushed to a hospital. Sheriff Darryl Forte posted on social media that the gas station owner of seven years said Juszczyk had been a regular customer at the business.
Forte said investigators have located a couple persons of interest but are still looking for another person of interest (pictured), a white male who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt at the scene. Any person with information about the case should call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-8477 or the Sheriff’s Office at 816-541-8017, ext. 72231.
