Young among University of Tampa graduates
Andrew Young, of Independence, graduated from the University of Tampa on May 9. He received a bachelor of science degree in marine science-biology. The commencement ceremony was completed virtually due to the current COVID-19 emergency.
Hamik graduates from University of Nebraska
Elizabeth Hamik of Lee’s Summit graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln on May 9. She received a bachelor of arts degree from the College of Arts and Sciences. The graduation ceremony was held virtually.
Kavanaugh cited for musical abilities
Hannah Kavanaugh, of Independence, is a student at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. At the Honors Convocation, she was awarded the Outstanding Flutist Award.
Two students given Chick-fil-A scholarships
Two local women have been awarded Chick-fil-A scholarships this year:
• Kaylee Adams, a graduate of Truman High School who attends Blue River Community College, plans to complete a B.A. in communications at the University of Central Missouri.
• Madison Clark, who attends Longview Community College, plans to complete a B.A. in creative writing at Oklahoma Baptist University.
