The Truman Library Institute and Hoover Presidential Foundation are hosting a free webinar at 6 p.m. Thursday about the friendship between the two presidents. The webinar, “Truman and Hoover: WWII Food Relief,” is part of the Institute’s year-long series commemorating the 75th anniversary of Truman’s presidency.

The webinar will feature Kurt Graham and Sam Rushay, the director and archives supervisor of the Truman Library, and Thomas Schwartz and Craig Wright, who hold the same positions at the Hoover Presidential Library in West Branch, Iowa.

As the war in Europe ended in 1945, the continent faced a dire food crisis, and Truman called on Hoover, the only living former president and first head of the Food Administration before his presidency, for advice and assistance. While working on a program for this, the two became lasting friends.

Though the program is free, registration is required. Go to www.trumanlibraryinstitute.org/tli-events/ or go to the Institute’s Facebook page to register.
