Patricia “Pat” (Bean) Rittel, 88, of Sugar Creek, Mo., passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 22, 2023, surrounded by family at Villages of Jackson Creek Memory Care in Independence. A rosary service will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee’s Summit Rd., Independence. A visitation will occur at 10 to 11 a.m. A mass of Christian burial will occur at 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. An inurnment will occur from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. at Mt. Washington Cemetery, 614 S. Brookside, Independence.
 Pat was born on June 23, 1934, in Independence to John H. Bean and Mildred “Peggy” (West) Bean. She graduated from Northeast High School in 1953. Pat retired from the Mid-Continent Public Library.
 Pat was united in marriage to James T. Rittel on September 14, 1957. Jim and Pat made their home in Sugar Creek where they lovingly raised their six children. Pat was a faithful member of St. Mary Parish where she was involved in the Alter and Rosary Society. Pat also supported Boy Scout Troop 221 for many years.
 Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents, John and Peggy; sister, Dixie Shields; brother, Jay Bean; baby daughter, Karen Elizabeth; daughter-in-law, Patty Rittel; and son-in-law, Jim Golden. She is survived by their six children: Jean Golden, Jim Rittel, Jr., Kathy Calvert, Patrick Rittel (Charlene), Mary Jodts (Vic), and Laura Street (Ken); 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Peggy J. Butcher, and many nieces and nephews.
