State Rep. Yolanda Young, D-Kansas City, presented a Missouri House of Representatives resolution last week to Independence resident Wes Epperson to honor his decades of service in the community. Young, whose district includes much of southwest Independence, presented the framed resolution at the beginning of one of Eppersons southwest Independence community meetings, this one at the South Independence Mid-Continent Public Library branch, that he has organized almost monthly for about four years. Epperson, a retired longtime UPS driver, has chaired the city of Independence Street Improvement Oversight Committee for more than a decade. [Mike Genet/The Examiner]
