Robert L. Comstock, 89, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022, surrounded by his family.
He graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1951. He was a pianist and vocalist with aspirations of being in the music business. He had a contract with a small KC record company and made a couple of albums. He sang at numerous events, especially weddings. He was a mechanical engineer and retired from Bendix in ’92 after 31 years which allowed him to be an active business partner in all his wife’s endeavors. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and spent several years driving his mini Indy car in parades. Robert was also an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Mizzou fan.
He was a loving devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was married to the love of his life, Judy Comstock, for 58 years. They were blessed with four children. They split their time between their homes here and their home at the Lake of the Ozarks. After he retired they loved to travel in their RV. He was active in all his children’s extracurricular activities including coaching.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Judy Comstock; sons, Christopher and Kurtis Comstock; parents, Clarence Comstock and Francis (Porter) Comstock and brother, Donald Comstock.
He is survived by his daughters, Wendy Comstock and Angie Comstock; granddaughter, Amanda Comstock (Jordan); great-granddaughter, Charli Comstock Johnson; daughter-in-law, Dee, and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He loved nothing more than enjoying a glass of wine listening to music with family and friends and if it were by the lake it was even better.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 16 from 5-7 p.m. at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Mo. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 17 with burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
