Roy “Dave” David
Tharp, 74, a resident of
Blue Springs, Mo. passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at his home. He was born April 17, 1948, to Roe and Laverne (Paup) Tharp in Iowa City, Iowa. Dave is a 1966 graduate of Davis County High School. He furthered his education with a degree in Business from Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo. Dave worked for MHC Kenworth in Kansas City selling truck parts. He was united in marriage to Nancy Spence Shelley on December 28, 2011, in Destin, Fla. Dave was a member of First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, attending sporting activities, and being in the outdoors. Dave cherished spending time with his family and friends. Survived by his wife, Nancy Tharp of Blue Springs; children, Zeb Tharp and wife Aubrey of Wright City, Mo., Robin Gammon and husband Danny of Columbia, Mo., Todd Shelley and wife Dr. Emily Robb of Leawood, Kan., Marc Shelley and wife Kirstin McCudden of New York, N.Y., Meagan Monke and husband Kevin of Edwardsville, Ill.; grandchildren, Parker, Violet, Holden, Ella, Maddy, Lewis, Apolline, James, Ryan, August, Logan; siblings, Mary Tharp and husband Tim Donovan of Montpelier, Vt., Verlee Hitzhusen and husband Bob of Jefferson City, Mo., Beverly Mattingly of Lancaster, Wis., brother-in-law, Ed Spence of Roanoake, Va. Dave is preceded in death by his parents. His family will receive family and friends from 10 11 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2022, at First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs, 301 S.W. Woods Chapel Rd, Blue Springs. Memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. at the chapel. Inurnment will follow at First United Methodist Church Columbarium. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meyers Funeral Chapel in Blue Springs.
