Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez smacks a two-run double down the left-field line in the seventh inning of Monday's game against the Los Angeles Angels at Kauffman Stadium. Perez drove in three runs on two hits and Paul DeJong hit a two-run homer to lead the Royals to a 5-3 victory, their fifth in a row. Starter Seth Lugo allowed just four hits and two runs over seven innings for his 14th win. John Schreiber, back from the injured list earlier in the day, earned his second save with a scoreless ninth inning as the Royals (70-55) pulled within a 2.5 games of Cleveland in the AL Central race, tied Minnesota for the second wild card playoff spot and pulled 4.5 games ahead of Boston for the final wild card berth.
