The Grain Valley boys tennis team dominated the Kirksville Invitational, capturing first place in six out of nine brackets to take first Saturday at Truman State University.

Kirksville, Trenton and Chillicothe also played in the four-team tournament.

In singles play No. 3 Kellen Holland took first (3-0); Addison Arnold won at No. 4 (3-0); Ethan Caley was triumphant at No. 5 (3-0); and Andrew Schmitt was the top-man at No. 6 (3-0). No. 1 singles player Colton Campbell finished third (1-2) and No. 2 Alex Schnurr placed second (2-1).

In doubles play, Arnold and Holland were first (3-0), Caley and Jakes Rogers won their backet at No. 3 (3-0) and Campbell and Schnurr took second (2-1).

“I was really pleased. I thought our guys had a great time,” Grain Valley coach Randy Draper said. “The competition was really good. The doubles play was really good for us. We had several guys I was really pleased with that made a really big jump.”
