Michael Worth fired a 77 to earn a medal and lead the Lee’s Summit North boys golf team to a fifth-place finish in the rain at the Liberty Invitational Monday at Shoal Creek Golf Club.

Worth tied for fifth individually as the Broncos totaled 332 as a team. Pembroke Hill, led by medalist Charlie Hamilton’s 72, claimed the team crown at 317.

Blue Springs shot 346 to finish 10th. Blue Springs South (354) tied for 13th and Fort Osage (413) was 18th.

Gavin McDonald missed a medal by one stroke with an 82 for North. Michael Foster (85) and Nathan Shull (88) completed the Broncos’ scoring.

Fort Osage’s Sam Morgan shot 81 to tie for 15th and earn a medal while leading the Indians.

Jackson Koenig shot 83, Steven Shaw fired an 84 and Luke Schweizer posted an 86 to lead Blue Springs. Taylor Muller rounded out the Wildcats’ card with a 93.

“We shot a 346, which was a pretty good score considering we were playing in a steady rain for the majority of the event,” Wildcats coach Doug Gillispie said. “I am really proud of Luke Schweizer who shot a career best by ten strokes. He’s only been golfing a couple years and he could barely hit the ball when he started and now he is posting scores with our varsity. He has worked hard and it is paying off, he had a great day.”

Ethan Wegner shot 84 and Carter Messner 88 to lead Blue Springs South. Miles Buttress (90) and Jacob Krahenbuhl (92) completed the Jaguars’ scoring.
