Lee’s Summit North finished second in its own eight-team Mike VanBecelaere Doubles Tournament Saturday.
The host Broncos had 38 points, three behind first-place Lee’s Summit. Other local teams competing were Truman (fifth, 20 points), Grain Valley (seventh, 11) and Fort Osage (eighth, four).
For North, the A flight team of Logan French and Connor Young went 1-2 and took fourth; the B flight duo of Seth Templeman and Chris Foeller won its bracket with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Lee’s Summit; the C flight team of CJ McGork and Logan Leslie went 2-1 and took second, falling to the Tigers 7-6 (3), 6-4 in the championship; and the D flight pair of Ethan Frostestad and Clayton Anderson took second following a 6-4, 2-6, 12-10 loss to Lee’s Summit.
For Truman, Blake Savidge and Chris Fielder were fifth in A flight; Cooper Mangels and Mason Adrales were seventh in the B flight; Walter Gilliam and Keegan Welch were fourth in C flight; and Trent Fiene and Austin Stafford were third in the D flight.
Grain Valley’s Kellen Holland and Addison Arnold were sixth in the B flight, Ethan Caley and Jake Rogers were sixth in the C flight and Andrew Schmitt and Lindell Frye were fifth in the D flight.
Fort Osage’s A flight team of Ryan Dover and Max Anderson finished sixth.
