The Truman and William Chrisman boys golf teams are evenly matched. That was evidenced by the three-team meet those squads had with Raytown South Wednesday at par-36 Drumm Farm Golf Club.
The Patriots edged Chrisman for first place 188-189. South didn’t have a team score due to only having three varsity players.
For Truman, Carter Wiley earned medalist honors when he shot a 42. Rounding out the scoring for the Patriots were Damon Freers shot a 47, Logan Freers had a 49, Ethan Bradshaw shot a 50 and Jacob Freers shot a 55.
“A win is a win, and we really needed to get this,” Truman coach Joey Penner said. “I couldn't be prouder of the way our boys improved tonight. It was pretty refreshing to see two of our freshmen come in to the club house grinning ear to ear because they shot their new low rounds in a match against Chrisman. This is a great way to build on the rest of the season.”
Chrisman’s Alec McFarland paced the team with a runner-up 43, Eli Marten shot a 44, Ethan Freiley had a 48, Devian Lopez shot a 54 and Seth Curtis shot a 58.
