Gracie Ankrom has been a goal-scoring machine for the Van Horn girls soccer team.
That was no different against against Lincoln Prep as she scored four goals in the team’s 6-1 non-conference win Thursday in the Belton Tournament.
The team will play Belton today.
Naomi Kroeger added two goals for the Falcons (7-4) and Desiree Norfleet saved a penalty kick as the goalkeeper.
LEE’S SUMMIT NORTH 2, LEE’S SUMMIT WEST 1: Alexis Mitchell buried a penalty kick in the back of the net late in the second half and that was enough for North to hold on for a win over the Titans in a Suburban Big Seven matchup Thursday.
Keelie Fothergill was fouled in the box and Mitchell scored the winner.
West began the game with a goal in the first half off a penalty kick from Jillian Leetch for a 1-0 lead. Early in the second half Halle Hill volleyed a shot into the net off a free kick from Liz Bales to tie it.
“Through most of the first half we played slow and sluggish.” said North coach Ryan Kelly, whose team improved to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference. “We lacked our usual movement off the ball and speed in the attack. In the second half the girls did a better job of attacking Lee’s Summit West and putting pressure on their backs.”
