Fort Osage golfer Gabby Vaoifi proved to be the best at the Independence Invitational Friday.

Vaoifi fired an 87 on the par-72 Drumm Farm Golf Club to claim medalist honors in the tournament.

St. Teresa’s Academy captured the team title with a 410 total, while Grain Valley took second place at 420. Truman was fifth at 453, Fort Osage was eighth at 500 and Lee’s Summit North finished ninth at 509. William Chrisman didn’t field a complete team.

Laney Rose (99), Taylor Hileman (103) and Shelby Kimbrough (105) all earned medals to lead Grain Valley.

Lee’s Summit North’s Julia Scism shot 103 to earn a medal, while Truman’s Katie Wheeler (105) and Andrea Zorich (107) also finished in the top 15.

Senior Jessica Long shot 128 and freshman Zoe McConnell posted 135 to lead host Chrisman.
