Kansas City Mavericks forward Matt Robertson has been on a roll since returning from injury last week.
He scored two goals, including the game-winner in the Mavs’ 4-3 win over Tulsa Wednesday at the B.O.K. Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
His goal at the 2:33 mark in the third period broke a 3-3 tie and eventually gave Kansas City the win. Bryce Aneloski and Eric Freschi assisted the goal. Robertson now had four goals and three assists in his last four games. It was also second game-winning goal in the last four contests.
Kansas City goalkeeper Mason McDonald stopped 39 of 42 shots to help the Mavericks seal the victory. He conceded two of the first four shots from Tulsa but stopped 36 of the final 37 shots for the Oilers.
Tulsa opened the scoring with a goal from Dylan Hubbs early in the first period, but Maverick defender Tory Donnay tied it at 1 at the 4:04 mark with a goal of his own. Tulsa retook the lead a little more than 3 minutes later with a goal from Vladimir Nikiforov and Robertson answered with his first goal of the day at the 16:04 mark to tie it at 2.
At the 6:08 mark of the second period, the Oilers took the lead when Adam Pleskach scored his 10th goal of the season. A little more than 9 minutes later Mavericks forward Dan Correale tied it once again with his sixth goal of the season, which was assisted by Alex Brooks and Justin Breton.
Robertson’s 11th goal of the season in the third period ended up being the difference for Kansas City (16-15-0-1).
