Will Fisher hit a home run and pitched five strong innings but it wasn’t enough for Blue Springs Post 499 Fike Friday.
Washington (Mo.) Post 218 scored four runs in the final two innings to edge Fike 7-5 in the first pool play game in the Washington Post 218 Tournament.
Fisher went 2-for-4 with two RBIs at the plate. He allowed six hits and three runs in five innings on the mound.
Crichton Hill, Kyle Gaines and Quinton Weld each added two hits and a run, and Luke Moehle and Koby Powell each had a hit and an RBI for Fike.
OUTLAWS SPLIT: The Lee’s Summit Outlaws made a comeback but it fell short and they had to settle for a split of their first two games in the Sioux Falls (S.D.) Tournament Friday.
After knocking off Aberdeen (S.D.) Smitty’s 14-6 in five innings in their first game, the Outlaws rallied from a big early deficit but fell 11-10 to Gretna in the nightcap.
Jason Gonzalez led the way to the win over Aberdeen with three hits and three RBIs. Trevor Key also drove in three runs as the Outlaws scored seven runs in the first inning, five in the second and two in the third to jump to a 14-4 lead.
Jeremy Root went three innings and struck out six for the win.
The Outlaws fell behind 6-0 and then 9-1 before erupting for seven runs in the fifth inning to pull within one. Gretna then held on for the win.
Blake Marnholtz had two hits and two RBIs, Root added two RBIs and Justin Hopson added two hits for Lee’s Summit.
