The Van Horn and Lee’s Summit North football teams were even with strong opponents in the first half Friday.

But the Falcons and Broncos failed to muster any points in the second half as both suffered their first losses of the season.

Van Horn fell 21-6 to Center, while Lee’s Summit North dropped a 24-14 decision to Suburban Big Six foe Park Hill.

Trailing 7-0, Van Horn quarterback Shaun Ross rambled all over the field for a 65-yard touchdown with 10:38 left in the second quarter. The Falcons, though, missed the extra point and they trailed just 7-6 at halftime.

The Falcons (3-1) kept it 7-6 but the Yellowjackets scored a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns to pull away.

PARK HILL 24, LEE’S SUMMIT NORTH 14: Ontario Russell rolled for a 66-yard touchdown run with 4:56 left in the second quarter to tie it for Lee’s Summit North.

Park Hill scored on Corey Bradford’s 2-yard touchdown run with 8:04 left in the third quarter and the Trojans added a 24-yard field goal with 9:53 remaining to seal the win and drop the Broncos to 2-1.

Keyon Mozee scored on a 9-yard run with 4:35 left in the first quarter to tie it 7-7 for North (3-1).

Russell finished with 101 yards on 20 carries and Broncos quarterback Christian Carter was 9 of 15 passing for 89 yards.

Ryan Graves completed 11 of 17 passes for 185 yards and a pair of touchdowns and ran for 62 yards on 10 carries to lead Park Hill (2-2).

ST. JOSEPH CENTRAL 41, TRUMAN 13: Truman dropped to 0-4 with a Suburban Large Seven loss to the visiting Indians Friday.

Donald Edmondson caught six passes for 151 yards and a touchdown but it wasn’t enough for the Patriots, who trailed 27-0 at halftime.

Truman quarterback was 13 of 26 passing for 177 yards and the score to Edmondson but threw a pair of interceptions.

Hunter Madison rushed for 163 yards and two touchdowns to lead Central (1-3).

ST. MICHAEL 52, LONE JACK 21: Alec Alaiwat completed 8 of 10 passes for 237 yards and four touchdowns to lead St. Michael the Archangel Catholic to its first win of the year.

Leading 14-0 at halftime, the Guardians outscored the host Mules 28-14 in the third quarter to pull away.

Landon Vahle caught five of Alaiwat’s passes for 197 yards and three touchdowns, and Dammon Randolph rushed for 66 yards and a touchdown on just eight carries for the Guardians (1-3). Steven McFeders caught the other touchdown pass.

OAK GROVE 47, KANSAS CITY EAST 12: Oak Grove improved to 1-3 by routing the Kansas City East Bears in a non-conference game at Panther Stadium Friday.

East dropped to 0-4.
