TROY, Mo. – Blue Springs South football kept it consistent to upend No. 2 seed and host Troy Buchanan Friday in the Class 6 District 2 opener.
The Jaguars scored in every quarter and sealed the win with 14 points in the fourth in a 35-14 win over the host Trojans.
Nahshon Rick ran for two touchdowns and Max Conard passed for two scores and ran for one to lead the way, helping the Jaguars rush for 263 yards.
Rick scored on a 62-yard run in the first quarter for a 7-0 lead. Conard scored on a 9-yard run with 4:13 left in the first half.
Troy responded with a touchdown in the second and third quarter to tie it, but Walker Goebel caught a 63-yard touchdown pass from Conard with 28 seconds left in the third quarter to put South ahead for good.
Dakoda Kenig, back from an injury, scored on a 32-yard pass from Conard and Rick scored on a 9-yard run to seal the win.
The Jaguars advance to face Blue Springs in a district semifinal at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Wildcats’ Peve Stadium.
