It was business as usual for the Kansas City Mavericks.
They skated through a longer-than-usual practice Thursday morning at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.
“It was longer, yes, but we got a lot of work done today,” Mavericks coach John-Scott Dickson said. “We worked on some things in the neutral zone and cleaned up some things that led to the losses earlier this week.”
The 11-4-1-0 Mavericks host Tulsa at 7:05 tonight at SEC Arena. The Oilers edged the Mavericks 3-2 last Sunday at BOK Arena in Tulsa to start the two-game skid for Kansas City, who also fell 5-2 Tuesday night at Wichita.
“It’s a long season and you can’t win every game as much as we’d like to,” captain Rocco Carzo said. “We’re going to get back home and hopefully end this streak with the help of the best fans in the ECHL.”
ROBERTSON PLACED ON TEAM SUSPENSION: Forward Matt Robertson has been placed on team suspension as he takes a leave of absence from the Mavericks.
“We wish Matt well and would like to thank him for his time here in Kansas City,” Dickson said. “Suspension has a negative connotation, but that’s what the league calls a leave of absence.
“Matt some things to deal with, which we will keep private, and when he is ready to come back, we’ll be happy to visit with him. He has been a big part of our success this season.”
