The defense for the William Chrisman girls basketball team came through again.

The defense never allowed Oak Park to score more than 12 points in a quarter during a 65-39 Suburban Middle Seven Conference win Monday.

Gia Moore led the Bears (6-1, 1-1) with 19 points, and Tierra Lopez and Jacque David each added 12.

BLUE VALLEY NORTH 55, BLUE SPRINGS 36: The Wildcats fell to 2-3 on the season after falling to the Blue Valley North Mustangs Saturday at the 810 Varsity Showcase at Avila University.

Aliyah Bello led Blue Springs with 13 points, followed by Jayla Sample and Ja’Cole Johnson each with nine.

On Friday, the Wildcats earned a 50-38 win over Blue Valley West. Sample led the Wildcats with 14 points and Bello added 11.

VAN HORN 53, WASHINGTON (KAN.) 10: The Falcons had little trouble improving to 3-5 on the season after defeating Washington in a non-conference matchup Monday.

Daisy Washington led the Falcons with 15 points and Erica Parrish had eight.

PARK HILL SOUTH 73, FORT OSAGE 42: The Indians were outscored 24-10 in the second period and couldn’t recover in a loss to the No. 3 state-ranked Panthers Monday.

Fort Osage trailed 22-18 after the first period but went into halftime down 46-28. South extended the lead to 59-34 going into the fourth.

Kiyley Flowers led the Indians (3-5) with 15 points.

LEE’S SUMMIT WEST 60, LEE’S SUMMIT NORTH 35: The Broncos fell to 1-5 on the season and 0-1 in the Suburban Big Six after a loss to the Titans Monday.

Mimi Brown led the Broncos with 10 points and Anija Frazier added nine.


LEE’S SUMMIT NORTH 84, LEE’S SUMMIT WEST 44: The Broncos didn’t have much trouble winning their Suburban Big Six Conference opener as they rolled to a win over the Titans Monday.

Mikel Henderson helped his team outscore the Titans 28-14 in the second quarter when he scored 16 of his game-high 19 points. Tommy Erwin posted a double-double for the Broncos (8-2, 1-0) with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Elijah Smith and Javaunte Hawkins each had 13 points.

On Saturday, North defeated St. Thomas Aquinas (Kan.) 68-56 in the 810 Varsity Showcase at Avila University.

After a tight opening quarter, the Broncos shored up their defense and took 10-point lead into halftime. North pushed the lead to 23 midway through the fourth quarter before removing their starters.

Henderson led all scorers with 20 points, Hawkins added 13 and Smith had 12.
