JEFFERSON CITY – The Blue Springs South girls basketball team ran into a buzzsaw in the Jefferson City Jays in the first round of the State Farm Holiday Hoops Invitational Thursday.

The No. 1 state-ranked Jays had 14 second-chance points in the first half and that helped them build a 31-13 halftime lead as they rolled to a 58-28 win over the Jaguars at home.

“They are really solid,” Jaguars coach Kory Lower said. “I know they have two girls who are going to play Division I basketball. We didn’t box out very well. It’s hard to beat a good team when you give them easy points on offensive rebounds.”

Seneea Bevley and Logan Abernathy led the Jags (5-4) with 10 points apiece.
