TULSA, Okla – The Kansas City Mavericks couldn’t get much going offensively in a road game against the Tulsa Oilers as they fell to 16-10-1-1 after a 5-2 loss Friday.

Tulsa forward Alex Globke got the scoring started when he fired a wrister through a screen in front and beat Mavericks goaltender Nick Schneider for his first professional goal and gave the Oilers a 1-0 lead at the 14:13 mark in the first period.

Tulsa scored just 17 seconds into the second period when forward Ryan Tesink scored his 12th goal of the season to extended the lead to 2-0. Kansas City narrowed the gap to 2-1 when C.J. Eick redirected a shot from the point for his sixth goal of the season.

Just over three minutes later Charlie Sampair scored for the Oilers off assists from Roman Ammirato and Dylan Bredo to make it 3-1. With just one minute and 23 seconds left in the second, Mavericks forward Mike Panowyk chased down a loose puck in the neutral zone and scored his fifth goal of the season to cut Tulsa’s lead to 3-2.

However, Kansas City wouldn’t score again as Sampair and Adam Pleskach added third-period goals for the Oilers to put the game away.

Schneider stopped 34 of 38 shot attempts in goal for the Mavericks.

Kansas City will play a 7:05 p.m. game Saturday against Mountain Division rival Wichita at INTRUST Bank Arena.
